Hi, I'm Sarah

Let’s create something that feels like you - where nature meets design, and where your story unfolds.

VIEW OUR PROCESS

With a B.S. in Interior Design, as well as 15+ years in the field, I have experience in both Residential and Commercial Interior Design. My projects range from high-profile celebrity venues to mansions in Puerto Rico to small re-styled rooms in modular homes. I believe every person deserves to love their space regardless of area or budget.

Innovating, curating, and thinking outside the box is all I've ever known. I take my clients and projects seriously, but I love to laugh and enjoy the process. It's design - this should be fun! I value authenticity and transparency above all.

I live in the country with my precious husband Scott and sweet girl, Salem Grace. We love boating, camping, hiking, road-trips, and making beautiful memories with family and friends.

I've spent my career creating spaces that blend beauty with purpose.

Inspired by my Appalachian roots, my approach to design is shaped by the landscapes that surround us - layered, textured, and full of quiet beauty. I believe a home should evoke emotion - a sensory retreat where each space tells a story and invites you to linger a little longer.

every home, no matter where it’s rooted, deserves to be intentional, timeless, and deeply personal.

Through the years...

Started virtual design, working on projects across the globe.

Saunter & Stone began as a passion for creating spaces that feel like home—rooted in personal stories, shaped by nature, and designed with intention. What started as a dream has grown into a journey of transforming interiors with thoughtfulness, creativity, and heart.

Landed my first big girl job at one of the countries top design firms in Louisville. I was a project manager and designer for commercial and residential design
(notable cool project: Billionaires Row ‘The Mansion’ at Churchill Downs.)

Quit the 9-5 and went into full time entrepreneurship!

Branded my business and officially began doing business as Saunter and Stone

Launched a patent-pending, award-winning clothing company.

2023

Became a Mommy to sweet Salem Grace

Graduated college with a bachelor of science in Industrial Engineering & Technology with an area in Interior Architecture then married my high school sweetheart and began freelance design

When my husband Scott and I go on adventures, we collect stones from every trail and write on them the date, trail, and location so we never forget our memories. I even told him I was pregnant with our baby girl Salem by writing 'Our Next Adventure' on our collected rocks. There are also way too many biblical references to stones to go over, but you get the idea, I love stones, stones are cool.

Stones are a touchpoint for us to tell our stories - I see your living space as a way to tell yours.

There's a famous mountaineer we outdoorsy folk admire (John Muir) and he said this:

"Hiking - " I don't like either the word or the thing. People ought to saunter in the mountains - not hike! Do you know the origin of the word 'saunter'? It's a beautiful word. Away back in the Middle Ages people used to go on pilgrimages to the Holy Land, and when people in the villages through which they passed asked where they were going, they would reply, 'A la sainte terre,' 'To the Holy Land.' And so they became known as Sainte-terre-ers or saunterers. Now these mountains are our Holy Land , and you ought to saunter through them reverently, not 'hike' through them."

Your home should be a sacred space, an oasis that we should saunter through, and enjoy at a slower pace.
